Meeting Space Nomenclature

In a nod to the Pan American Pacific International Exposition in 1915, The Clift's meeting and event space names honor those who played a large part in cultivating the fair to its greatest potential. The Panama–Pacific International Exposition was a world's fair held in San Francisco, California, U.S., from February 20 to December 4, 1915. Its stated purpose was to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal, but it was widely seen in the city as an opportunity to showcase its recovery from the 1906 earthquake. The Exposition site combines to an extraordinary degree the qualities of beauty, adaptability and convenience.

George Applegarth - the original architect of The Clift

Stirling Calder - acting chief of the Department of Sculpture of the Panama–Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco, California

Charles C. Moore - often given the lion's share of credit for the success of The Panama Pacific International Exposition of 1915

Bernard Maybeck - architect of The Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District of San Francisco, California, a monumental structure originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in order to exhibit works of art presented there

James Earle Fraser - an American sculptor for the 1915 Panama–Pacific International Exposition
