David Kohlasch

General Manager

David Kohlasch

David began his hospitality career in Las Vegas, NV, where he worked at the front desk of the Holiday Casino Hotel. Realizing his potential in the hospitality industry, he put himself through the hospitality program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas while working 40 to 50 hours of overnight shifts a week.

As the interim general manager of The Chase Park Plaza, A Royal Sonesta Hotel, David starts every day by visiting each department to greet the team. His responsibility as GM is to deliver the Sonesta experience of superior customer service to all guests.

David is an avid sports lover and supports local sports teams and competitions.

"Our primary focus is making sure that every team member and guest feels cared for. We are focused on providing our undivided attention to every person in the hotel and ensuring that we are exceeding expectations. We also focus on people resolution to ensure we take care of an issue if there is an error."

 

Frederik Houben

Director of Sales & Marketing

Frederik Houben

An experienced industry professional, Houben joins the St. Louis location from his recent position as the Director of Sales and Marketing of The Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Missouri. In his new role, Houben will be responsible for the successful execution of the sales, catering and marketing teams as well as serve on the hotel’s Executive Committee. Over the course of his 20-year career, Houben has led the success of several distinctive properties throughout North America and the Bahamas.  Adding to his international experience, he also lived in Brazil for ten years.

Houben is a career hospitality professional whose prior experience includes both full and limited-service hotels with industry leaders including Warwick International Hotels, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Intercontinental Hotels Group and other independent hotels.  Houben was born in Germany and is fluent in several languages.

 

Matthew White

Matthew White

Matthew White, an award-winning hospitality professional, has been named the Director of Food and Beverage. In this role, White will be responsible for overseeing all food and beverage operations, including dining experience, quality control, purchasing, and budgeting. White has an extensive background in the hospitality industry, including his most recent position as the Assistant Director of Food & Beverage at Royal Sonesta New Orleans. During his tenure, he oversaw all operations of the hotel’s six dining outlets and was responsible for re-launching one of the restaurants after an extensive renovation. White was instrumental in advancing the restaurant’s TripAdvisor ranking from 187 to 49, bringing it to the top three percent of restaurants in the city. In 2016 he was named Manager of the Year. Prior to joining Royal Sonesta New Orleans, White held a similar position with the Roosevelt Hotel, Waldorf Astoria Hotel, in New Orleans.  White holds a certification from the Guild of Sommeliers and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University in New Orleans.

Gunter Weber

Gunter Weber

Gunter Weber has been announced as the new Executive Chef. Classically trained in French cooking techniques, Weber went to culinary school in Switzerland and was selected for a three-year internship at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhoff, a 5-star boutique hotel.

Weber honed his palate and passion for cooking while traveling the world working in Switzerland, Burma, and Washington, DC. Prior to joining Chase Park Plaza, Weber was the Chef de Cuisine at Hyatt Regency St. Louis. Recognized for his creative cooking and impressive skills, he served on the opening team for two Hyatt Regency hotels in California. As the Executive Chef at Chase Park Plaza, Weber will oversee the entire culinary and kitchen team.
