Paul joins The Chase Park Plaza from his most recent position as Senior Vice President of Operations for Crescent Hotels and Resorts in St. Louis. There, he provided leadership support for Central Division operation vice presidents and property general managers. With four decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Paul's previous experience includes Extended Stay America, Interstate Hotels and Resorts, and Goldman Sachs, where he served as Asset Manager for a portfolio comprised of Marriott, Hilton and IHG properties.
As a native St. Louisan, Paul grew up watching wrestling at The Chase Park Plaza on Sunday mornings. Now coming full circle, Paul strives to be a contributing member of the executive leadership at The Chase Park Plaza, maintaining its impeccable reputation within the industry as an enterprise that is committed to continued growth and Sonesta's Culture of Caring.
Paul lives in O'Fallon, Missouri with his wife. Together, they have four adult children and two grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoys the outdoors and is active in kayak river racing.
Director of Sales & Marketing
An experienced industry professional, Houben joins the St. Louis location from his recent position as the Director of Sales and Marketing of The Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Missouri. In his new role, Houben will be responsible for the successful execution of the sales, catering and marketing teams as well as serve on the hotel’s Executive Committee. Over the course of his 20-year career, Houben has led the success of several distinctive properties throughout North America and the Bahamas. Adding to his international experience, he also lived in Brazil for ten years.
Houben is a career hospitality professional whose prior experience includes both full and limited-service hotels with industry leaders including Warwick International Hotels, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Intercontinental Hotels Group and other independent hotels. Houben was born in Germany and is fluent in several languages.
Director of Hotel Operation
Matthew White, an award-winning hospitality professional, has been named the Director of Food and Beverage. In this role, White will be responsible for overseeing all food and beverage operations, including dining experience, quality control, purchasing, and budgeting. White has an extensive background in the hospitality industry, including his most recent position as the Assistant Director of Food & Beverage at Royal Sonesta New Orleans. During his tenure, he oversaw all operations of the hotel’s six dining outlets and was responsible for re-launching one of the restaurants after an extensive renovation. White was instrumental in advancing the restaurant’s TripAdvisor ranking from 187 to 49, bringing it to the top three percent of restaurants in the city. In 2016 he was named Manager of the Year. Prior to joining Royal Sonesta New Orleans, White held a similar position with the Roosevelt Hotel, Waldorf Astoria Hotel, in New Orleans. White holds a certification from the Guild of Sommeliers and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University in New Orleans.
