Michael Medeiros

Michael Medeiros, general manager, Royal Sonesta Boston, is a leader in New England’s hospitality industry.  In 2016 Medeiros was awarded “General Manager of the Year” honors by the Massachusetts Lodging Association for “leading the hotel with energy, creativity and compassion” and “demonstrating superior professionalism and leadership in the hospitality industry.”  Medeiros was profiled by Hotel Management Magazine as a “General Manager to Watch.” 

Medeiros has been with Sonesta for 24 years, starting his career in hospitality as an assistant banquet manager at Royal Sonesta Boston. He grew his career with Sonesta, working at their properties in Miami and New Orleans, taking on larger roles with each move.  He was at Royal Sonesta New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, helping keep the hotel open through the crisis.  In 2011 Medeiros returned to his native Massachusetts as General Manager, Royal Sonesta Boston.

As General Manager, Royal Sonesta Boston, Medeiros led a major hotel renovation that included 400 guestrooms, 20 suites, added 2000 square feet of meeting space, 3000 square feet of a new outdoor terrace, fitness and pool area and a new outlet, Studio, a coffee and pastry shop showcasing the creations of the culinary team.   

Known for his open-door policy, Medeiros embodies the Sonesta’s ‘Culture of Caring’ encouraging staff to be the best they can be, always with an open mind for how to do things better. It is not unusual to find Medeiros rearranging furniture in the hotel lobby and greeting guests at the front door. He is as engaged with his guests as he is with his staff.

Active in the community, Medeiros is President of the board of Cambridge Office for Tourism, Vice President of the Cambridge Hotel Association, and serves on the boards of the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Massachusetts Lodging Association and the Cambridge Taxi Committee.  Royal Sonesta Boston partners with several organizations, including Community Servings, Access Sports American, East End House, Somerville Shelter for Battered Women and the Cambridge YWCA. 

Keith Cabral

An experienced hotel professional with over 25 years experience, Keith Cabral leads sales and marketing efforts for Royal Sonesta Boston.  A native of the Greater Boston area, Keith takes great pride in showcasing this newly renovated world-class hotel and introducing clients, business partners and guests from around the world to all that Cambridge and Boston have to offer.  

Keith’s interest in the hospitality industry began with his early experience at small inns in New Hampshire and Vermont.  Since then, his career has encompassed everything from front desk and banquet/catering operations to hotel openings and brand transitions.  He has held regional sales roles at Fine Hotels, Swissotel, and Sheraton. He has served as Director of Sales & Marketing for DoubleTree Boston, Hilton Boston Downtown and InterContinental Boston.   

At Royal Sonesta Boston for over eight years as Director of Sales and Marketing, Keith oversees group and business travel sales in addition to catering and conference services. His team of sales professionals are dedicated to exceeding client expectations for corporate and social events within the hotel’s private function spaces, many offering unparalleled views of the Charles River and Boston skyline.

Keith is an active member of Meeting Planners International, New England Chapter, and the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International.


Brian Dandro

Brian Dandro heads the kitchen and the entire food and beverage team at Royal Sonesta Boston.  Known for his culinary creativity, leadership and attention to detail, Dandro brings a passion for local seasonal product to every menu, creating memorable moments in the hotel’s restaurants, banquets and in-room dining.  Dandro led the team through a recent renovation, updating all the hotel’s banquet spaces and creating additional outdoor dining with an attractive expanded Riverview terrace and fire pit patio.

A Massachusetts native, Dandro showcases New England seasons and product in all the hotel’s culinary spaces.  ArtBar, the hotel’s popular restaurant, is a must-visit for classic double lobster rolls, festive oyster brunches and gooey s’mores by the fire pits.  Studio, the hotel’s specialty on-the-go pastry & coffee shop, features the newest creations from the pastry team.  The hotel’s banquet spaces feature ballrooms and private meeting rooms with one-of-a-kind views of the Charles River and the Boston skyline.  With each space, Dandro leads his team to create memorable menus and dining experiences.

Dandro learned his craft at an early age, apprenticing at the respected Castle Restaurant in MA,  followed by positions at the Seaport Hotel/World Trade Center Boston, Hotel at MIT in Cambridge and then on the opening team at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort.  But New England called him back and Dandro returned to Boston as Sous Chef of Meritage at the Boston Harbor Hotel and then to Royal Sonesta Boston in 2008 as Executive Chef.  Since then Dandro has added responsibilities as Director of Food and Beverage.

During his leadership at Royal Sonesta Boston, the hotel has earned praise and awards for its culinary expertise. The unique spaces, both indoor and outdoor, combined with seasonal celebrations create an energy and expectation that there is always something new and delicious to discover at Royal Sonesta Boston.


Christina Allen-Flores

Christina Allen Flores, executive pastry chef, Royal Sonesta Boston, is known not only for her bacon double fudge chocolate brownies and home-made s’mores, but also her sublime seasonal desserts on display throughout the hotel.  

The recently opened Studio Coffee & Pastry Shop in the lobby of the Royal Sonesta Boston showcases Christina’s home-made treats, now available in the shop and via room service.   Her cooking classes with kids offered during school vacation week always sell out, and residents and guests alike know to watch the menus for her always updated array of seasonal desserts.

Christina was profiled in The Boston Globe for her experience and attention to the details with culinary allergies and nutrition issues.  For years she has been making egg free, dairy free, whole grain baked goods and artisanal breads at home.    She brings that passion, skill and attention to detail to Royal Sonesta Boston’s bakeshop, making pastries, breads, baked goods, and desserts for ArtBar and the hotel’s extensive banquet operation. 

Christina began baking at a young age for her family and the local 4H.  Club leaders and family taught her fire-side cooking, canning, goat milk pasteurization and cheese making, bread and pastry baking.  She followed her passion for baking and graduated from Johnson & Wales University.  She headed west from her native New England, and worked at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, a 5 Star/5 Diamond establishment in the heart of Beverly Hills for several years.  When Christina returned to the Boston area, she focused on wedding and specialty cake production and chocolate-making. 

Royal Sonesta Boston was delighted when Christina accepted the position of Executive Pastry Chef in 2010.  Christina leads the Royal Sonesta pastry team, celebrating the seasons with one-of-a-kind delicacies, both sweet and savory. 


Jim Booth

Booth’s first foray into the kitchen was shucking oysters at Hampton Beach, NH.  That love for oysters has only grown and he anticipates adding more oyster dishes to ArtBar’s waterfront patio menu. “Our location alongside the Charles River is amazing.  I naturally am thinking about oysters and introducing a variety of fun, approachable snacks perfect for relaxing out on the patio.” Look for a variety of sliders that are “ooey, gooey with liquid gold cheddar” and more toppings.

A New England native, Booth is a graduate of Johnson & Wales, has worked at Pigalle, The Green Monkey, and most recently Verve at the Crowne Plaza, Natick, MA. Booth has been honored to cook dinner at the James Beard Foundation in NYC and brings an appreciation for seasonal New England product to the table.
