Sonesta Travel Pass Terms and Conditions

1. General and Definitions


Sonesta Travel Pass membership and its benefits are offered at the sole discretion of Sonesta International Hotels Corporation (“Sonesta”). All interpretations of the Sonesta Travel Pass (“Program”) shall be at the sole discretion of Sonesta. Sonesta reserves the right to terminate, modify, revise, or change, in whole or in part, the Program’s Terms and Conditions, benefits, rewards, membership level qualifications, inventory and/or availability of rewards at any time, with or without notice. Furthermore the membership of participating hotels in the Program as well as partner affiliations may change at any time without prior notice. Changes may result in a reduction in the value of benefits or points already accumulated, and may also result in forfeiture of unused points.


Enrollment in the Program is complimentary and is available to individuals residing in countries that legally permit participation in frequent stay programs. Membership in the Sonesta Travel Pass program is void if prohibited by law in the country of the member or applicant’s residency.


Members must be at least 18 years of age or the age of maturity in the state or province of residence, whichever is older. You may be required to provide personal identification with your date of birth in order to verify age upon check-in.


Sonesta reserves the right to discontinue Sonesta Travel Pass membership for any member who appears to be using the program in a manner inconsistent with these Terms and Conditions, in Sonesta’s sole discretion. Sonesta also reserves the right to discontinue membership for any member who engages in unruly behavior or conduct unbecoming of a guest of a Sonesta hotel or resort, or who acts in a manner inconsistent with local, state or federal laws, statutes or ordinances.


Sonesta Travel Pass membership is for the sole use of that member and is non-transferable.


With respect to printing or production errors, Sonesta reserves the right, without limitation, to correct any Program offers, letters, e-mails, benefits, or points.


Members are required to update Sonesta with any changes to personal information that could affect their membership. Profile access is available on Sonesta’s Web site at, where members can make changes to their profile information and check their reward point balance. Members may also contact the Travel Pass Customer Care center at 1.855.622.2160 (toll-free in U.S.) or at 1.617.658.0078.


Respecting your privacy is important for us, and you may review the Sonesta Privacy Policy on Sonesta may from time to time send you certain program information that may include, but is not limited to, marketing materials which will inform you of special offers and products we believe may be of interest to you. You will be given the opportunity to opt-out from receiving these marketing materials.


A “Qualified Rate” can include but is not limited to retail rates (Best Available Rate and Packages*), Consortia, Negotiated Corporate, Extended Stay, and Government. A Qualifying Rate may also include specific Discount rates such as advance purchase, length-of-stay offers, AAA/CAA, 55+, and discounts available on and/or via the Sonesta International Reservations center. *Qualifying Rate/Packages include the portion of the rate attributed to the guest room price and excludes other package elements and taxes.


A “Non-qualifying Rate” can include but is not limited to 3rd Party Internet (opaque discount sites such as Priceline & Hotwire and merchant sites such as, Expedia,, Orbitz & Travelocity), Contract, Wholesale (tour operators and FIT), Group rates, and specific Discounts including: employee rates, voucher, barter, Reward Stays and special promotions on 3rd Party internet sites. Group rates are defined as specially negotiated rates for booking 10 rooms or more.


A “Qualified Room Night” is an overnight stay where the reservation is in the Program member’s name, includes the member’s Travel Pass ID number and is booked and paid for at a Qualified Rate.


A “Qualifying Year” is defined as any calendar year in which the member was both a registered and active member.


“Qualified Room Revenue” is defined as revenue derived from the rental of rooms and suites at qualifying rates.


Points and/or Qualifying Night credit are not awarded for no-shows even if the room is paid for in full.


Employees of Sonesta International Hotels and Affiliates are not eligible to earn points or receive member benefits.

2. Membership Levels


The membership levels are awarded based on the number of Qualified Room Nights accumulated by a specific member within a Qualifying Year. Once the qualification of a membership level has been reached, that status will be granted and maintained for the remainder of the calendar year as well as the subsequent year. If a member does not accrue a Qualified Room Night for a period of 18 months, then membership may be terminated and all Reward Points in the member’s account will be forfeited.


The membership benefit levels of the program are defined as follows:


The “Member” level status is awarded for zero (0) to five (5) Qualified Room Nights within the same Qualifying Year.


The “Preferred” level status is awarded for six (6) to eleven (11) Qualified Room Nights within the same Qualifying Year.


The “Elite” level status is awarded for twelve (12) or more Qualified Room Nights within the same Qualifying Year.


Members cannot earn night credit, points or receive membership benefits for day use (same arrival and departure date).


Only one qualifying night credit, per member, per night will be awarded regardless of the number of reservations booked and paid for by the member.


Members sharing a room and the cost of a Qualifying Room Night will be awarded points based on their share of the Room Rate paid. Each member will also earn night credits. Only the member whose name and Travel Pass ID are on the reservation, will receive Travel Pass benefits for the qualified stay.

3. Travel Pass Benefits


Travel Pass member benefits (perks) are provided for the member's room only.


At participating Sonesta locations, members receive upgrades to preferred room types, which may include the next-best available room type booked. Upgrades may also include rooms with desirable views, corner rooms, rooms on high floors, rooms with special amenities, rooms on Club Floors or suites as identified by each property.


Room upgrades are subject to availability at time of check-in.


Benefits are provided only to Sonesta Travel Pass members during their stay and are not redeemable for cash.


Specific Sonesta Travel Pass benefits and services have been established for all members; however, benefits and services offered by participating hotels may vary.


Personal Preference: whenever possible, personal preferences as indicated in the member's online profile such as room type, room location, bed type will be met, based on availability.


Where available, Sonesta Travel Pass members will be upgraded to the Premium tier of internet access for free. The Premium tier provides additional bandwidth and allows for use of up to 7 devices. This complimentary Premium high-speed internet access applies to daily in-room usage and is not applicable to in-room television Internet service, hotel work centers or group and meeting space. Sonesta Travel Pass members must be registered guests to receive complimentary Premium high-speed internet access. Internet connection may not be available at some international hotels. A one hour card per stay will be issued for qualifying members to use the internet when staying on board the Sonesta Nile Cruises and Red Sea resorts.


The complimentary beverage benefit entitles the member to receive a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage of up to $15.00, including tax and gratuity, at participating Sonesta outlets.


The Discount on Dining benefit entitles the member to receive a percentage off their check, excluding alcoholic beverages, at participating Sonesta operated restaurants. Taxes and gratuities are not included. The discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other food and beverage package or special offer and it is redeemable at participating Food and Beverage restaurants at Sonesta locations. It does not apply to In-Room Dining.


The Discount on Resort Amenities benefit entitles the member to receive a percentage off at participating spa or retail outlets. The discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other package or special offer.


Complimentary club lounge access will vary by location. Hotels without club floors/lounges will offer complimentary continental breakfast to the member at participating outlets.


The availability of the Discounted Suite Upgrade is at the discretion of the hotel at the time of check-in.


Sip n' snack credit is for single use only and carries no cash value upon departure.


Sonesta Travel Pass benefits are only provided on qualifying stays and Reward Nights.


Reward Points are awarded and redeemable at participating hotels. Reward Points are currently available at Royal Sonesta Hotels, Sonesta Hotels & Resorts, Sonesta ES Suites, Sonesta Posadas del Inca in the following locations: the United States, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and St. Maarten.

4. Reward Points


A Member is eligible to receive Reward Points for staying at participating Sonesta hotels for his/her room and up to two additional rooms. All of the rooms must be reserved and registered in the Member's name, include the Member’s Travel Pass ID Number on all reservations and the Member must pay for all rooms, which payment arrangement must be requested at time of hotel check-in. The Member must also stay in one of the rooms.


Reward Points are awarded for Qualifying Room Nights at participating hotels. Participating Sonesta hotels currently include U.S., Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and St. Maarten Sonesta locations only. A qualified stay must have a check out date after the Travel Pass Reward Point program launch date - July 23, 2013 or the after the day the property began participating in the Sonesta Travel Pass rewards program. Ten Reward Points will be awarded for each dollar of Qualified Room Revenue – exclusive of taxes and other fees where applicable.


Members may not accrue more than 100,000 reward points during one stay.  A stay is defined as one night or consecutive nights per room at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/check-out.


Members may receive credit for Qualified stays 30 days prior to enrollment, if requested within 60 days of enrollment. Contact the Travel Pass Customer Care center at 1.855.622.2160 (toll-free in U.S.) or+1.617.658.0078.


If a member does not accrue or redeem Reward Points for a period of 18 months, the member may be re-classified as a “Non-Active” member and all Reward Points in the member account may be forfeited.

5. Redeeming Reward Points


Reward Points may be redeemed for Reward Stays at participating hotels by contacting the Travel Pass Customer Care Desk at 1.855.622.2160 (toll-free) or at 1.617.658.0078.  Reward nights are subject to availability and the local cancellation and no-show policy.


Profile access is available at, where members can check their reward point balance.


Reward nights at Royal Sonesta Hotels and Sonesta Hotels & Resorts are for Base Room Types. Base Room Types vary by hotel and are assigned upon check-in.  Reward nights at Sonesta ES Suites are for Studio room types where available or One-Bedroom room types when the hotel does not have Studios.


Reward Nights are subject to current availability on at the time of reward redemption. A minimum length of stay may apply.


Reward Stays are non-transferable, except to immediate family, meaning parent, child, spouse and siblings.  Transfer of a Reward Stay must be requested at the time Reward Points are redeemed.  Reward Points can be transferred upon completion and submission of a transfer form; contact the Customer Care Desk for assistance.


Sonesta Travel Pass Reward Stays and benefits may be subject to income or other taxes.  Any taxes and all disclosures are the sole responsibility of the Member or Reward recipient.  Reward Stays are valid for a single or double standard hotel room for up to two adults.


If a hotel no longer participates in the Reward Points and Reward Stay elements of the Sonesta Travel Pass program, the Customer Care Desk will contact members holding future Reward Stay reservations and assist them with re-booking their Reward Stay at a participating hotel.

6. Miscellaneous


By redeeming Reward Points and receiving benefits in the Program, you agree that Sonesta and its affiliates and subsidiaries and their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) will have no liability or responsibility whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless against, any liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind (including without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive or exemplary damages) to persons, including personal injury or death, or property arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of a Reward Point or benefit. In no event shall the Released Parties be liable to you for any delay in or failure to perform due to causes beyond Sonesta’s control, including without limitation, any act of God, act of war, natural, disaster, weather, terrorism, or any act or omission of a third party. This section will survive termination of your participation in the Program.


This Program and these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by, construed, and interpreted under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Federal and State courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts shall be the exclusive court of jurisdiction in the first instance for any disputes regarding these Terms and Conditions. In any such dispute, under no circumstances will members or participants be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages, including attorneys’ fees, other than member’s actual out-of-pocket expenses, even if Sonesta has been advised of the possibility of such damages.


Sonesta provides the Program, these Terms and Conditions, and other services and products “As Is” and, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, expressly disclaims any representation or warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.


If any mistakes are discovered, your exclusive remedy shall be the issuance of points, or such other alternative comparable benefit as determined by Sonesta. In no event shall Sonesta be liable to any member, or anyone claiming through a member, for any direct, indirect or consequential damages, or lost revenue or profits, arising out of Sonesta’s acts or omissions in connection with the Program.


Sonesta is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, or misdirected information or communications; computer system, phone line, electronic equipment, computer hardware, software or program malfunctions, or other errors; failures or delays in computer transmissions or network connections; or for any other technical problems. Sonesta is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by members or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Program, or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of points and account information.  CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A PERSON TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS PROGRAM IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SONESTA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
