Hotel completes renovation and introduces new lobby

The Sonesta Posadas del Inca Yucay completed this long-awaited project in December, creating a warm and welcoming open floor plan where the front desk, bar and lobby seating area are mixed in a single large space to welcome guests.  The well-known interior designer Yolanda Corvetto created the design and oversaw project management. Her goal was to create a warm, peaceful space in harmony with the architectural design of the hotel, whose main attraction is the 18th century colonial monastery.  Important pieces of carved wood were used in the new environment. Part of the decor is a spectacular colonial bronze mirror - now the centerpiece of the reception area.  It is a companion piece to the eighteenth century carved chandelier located in the bar.  These pieces are the perfect counterpoint to the old monastery, now furnished with an eye to comfort and offering modern conveniences and a welcoming place to rest and enjoy the company of others.  The use of stone and local materials in the project represent the Sacred Valley’s wealth in this area and pairs well with Sonesta's desire to represent the mood and spirit of the place each hotel inhabits. Ethanol burners on stone bases throughout the lobby provide the essential touch of warmth that characterizes our hotel. Similarly, the muddy walls and upholstered furniture in Andean earth colors give strength to the whole atmosphere and are integrated with local Chumbivilcas tapestries.  The business center, library and guest service area perfectly complement each other making one central environment for all of a guests needs while staying at the hotel.

Sonesta Posadas del Inca Yucay is located in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, five minutes far from Urubamba, one-hour drive from the ancient Inca capital of Cusco and close to Machu Picchu.
