The purpose of this position is to work within the company's Accounting team and help to carry out the responsibilities of the Accounting department. The position will be approximately one half Accounts Receivable duties and one half general Accounting functions. As a result of this person's position, the Accounting team will meet the hotel and departmental objectives and Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements.
Director of Finance
Reporting to the Hotel General Manager, the Director of Finance is accountable for leading the Finance team in managing the hotel’s financial and accounting policies, systems and processes, tax and regulatory requirements, payroll systems and processes and hotel’s controls, ongoing financial modeling and annual business plan. This position also provides leadership and coaching including strategic guidance to the Management team in relation to cost containment, revenue enhancement, profit improvement opportunities and safeguarding of the company’s assets.
Set-Up and tear down of function rooms as stated on banquet event orders. Prepare and replenish coffee service throughout day. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Obtain next day banquet orders from banquet office. Required to set up function room according to diagram on banquet event order. Set tables and place chairs. Lift and stack chairs for long periods of time. Roll and position six-foot tables. Prepare and replenish coffee servers throughout day. Required to work off premises for catered functions, which involves carrying equipment for long distances.
Serves meals to patrons in dining establishment by performing the following duties. Provides food service to banquet events in accordance with Hotel standards. Serves patrons from chafing dish at table. Carves meats, bones fish and fowl, and prepares flaming dishes and desserts at patron's table. Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed. Ladles soup, tosses salads, portions pies and desserts, brews coffee, and performs other services as determined by banquet event order. Sets dining table and seating arrangements as stated in the banquet event order. Completes all daily side duties. Maintain pleasant personality throughout entire function. Clears and resets counters or tables at conclusion of each course.
Desire Oyster Bar
Maintain proper attire as a representative of the hotel. Maintain established service standards. Serve as a customer relations clerk of the hotel. Maintain an orderly flow of customer traffic. Welcome and warmly greet guests on arrival. Manage the efficient and timely seating of our guests to a table that best serves their wishes.
Facilitates food service by performing the following duties. Maintain proper attire as a representative of the hotel.Maintain established service standards. Serve as customer relation's clerk.Serve guests water and bread upon arrival, and provide refills as needed. Remove used tableware between courses; clear and reset tables after guests leave.
Responsible for repair and maintenance of guestrooms. Will follow work orders and keep records of work done in each room. Must have a working knowledge of plumbing, electricity and carpentry. All repairs in a guestroom including the heating and air conditioning units. May be called upon to repair or replace defective electrical switches and fixtures, as well as repairs to plumbing fixtures and A/C equipment. Will respond to guest service calls for rooms maintenance items such as troubleshooting television repairs, replacing light bulbs, etc. Must have a friendly disposition and willing to follow Sonesta’s GUEST service standards. Prior luxury hotel experience a plus.
Responsible for the repair, maintenance, upkeep and replacement of the property's cosmetic materials (interior/exterior painting, patching of wood work and furniture refinishing), in accordance with hotel standards. Assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned. Must have a friendly disposition and willing to follow Sonesta’s GUEST service standards. Previous experience as a commercial painter required.
Food & Beverage
Coordinates activities of stewarding and employees to ensure that the stewarding area and culinary areas are clean and well maintained, creating a work area that is free from safety hazards and compliant with Health & Safety guidelines. Provides support to Banquet Department by pulling equipment in advance according to the BEO. Must have a friendly disposition and willing to follow Sonesta’s GUEST service standards. Prior experience in fine dining or luxury hotel setting a plus.
The housekeeping supervisor provides the highest level of guest service possible. The position requires the motivation and supervision of a minimum of 6 employees to ensure the Sonesta Room Standards are met for a minimum of 100 rooms. Must establish a comprehensive understanding, practice, and enforce the Sonesta Housekeeping and People standards. Knowledge of the required cleaning chemicals to ensure proper use. Comprehensive knowledge of all items required in guest rooms and their basic function: linens, furniture, carpet, beds, TV, literature, bathroom fixtures, etc. Must report all defects immediately. Inspect and electronically key in all guest rooms in accordance with the Sonesta standards. Provide input for evaluations and assist in motivating employees to improve performance. Other duties as needed. Housekeeping and supervisory experience are required.
The qualified candidate is required to provide exceptional guest service which is achieved by cleaning and preparing guest rooms for occupancy. This candidate should provide personal service by greeting guests and assisting them as needed. Must demonstrate the housekeeping and Sonesta guest standards. Responsible for properly using the chemicals needed to clean ad prepare guest rooms. Must be knowledgeable of guest rooms and report maintenance problems and concerns immediately. Must be able to clean approximately seventeen rooms within eight hours while meeting the Sonesta standards. Other duties as needed. Housekeeping and hotel experience required. Experience at a comparable hotel is preferred.
Fit all new and old employees for uniforms and maintain accurate uniform cards on all employees. Inform linen room manager when supplies or uniforms need to be ordered. Repair guest requests within reason as well as drapes, spreads and other items. Other duties as needed.
Check log book daily to see which rooms need to shampooed. Responsible for shampooing public areas, corridors, and upholstery. The qualified candidate must frequently lift and/or move 50 to 100 pounds.
This position is required to provide exceptional guest service, which is done by cleaning and preparing guest rooms for occupancy. The position is also required to provide personal service by greeting guest with enthusiasm and assisting as needed.
Human Resources Director
Provides human resources leadership, strategic support, consultation, coaching, direction and advice to Hotel Executive Committee and all employees on all human resources related topics as well as Sonesta and Hotel culture and values. Works with senior management to develop employment process to support business goals and objectives. Directs, oversees and/or coordinates all human resources activities such as employment, compensation, employee relations, benefit, training, and performance management.
Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse
Prompt, efficient, courteous service to our guest in Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse. Proper handling of guest checks according to Royal Sonesta cash handling procedures. Must be friendly and knowledgeable of the beverage menu. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of work station. Serve beverage and complimentary snacks, where available, to guests as needed. Leave work area clean at end of shift. Fill out tip report properly for all charge tips. Basic knowledge of mixed drinks, proper method of preparation and service required.
Stay informed of guarantee and count for all banquet food functions. Check all banquet event orders for breakfast, lunch, dinner, receptions, and special events in order to organize work and order/prepare necessary items. Assist with the holiday buffet presentations. Work any kitchen position as needed.
The Pastry department within the Royal Sonesta New Orleans prepares its items fresh daily. Candidate will prepare all specific items for Room Service and Banquets. Assists the Executive Pastry Chef in controlling food cost, labor cost, inventory, and sanitation. Responsible for assuring that that predetermined goals are attained in quantity, quality, production, and cost by pastry employees. The successful candidate will be able to prepare petite French pastries, individual plated desserts, birthday/special occasion cake, and a dummy wedding cake from scratch. Other duties as needed. Advanced skills in decorating and presentation are required. Hotel management experience and culinary education preferred.
Acts as the groomer of the service team, clearing debris, clutter and dishes as appropriate throughout the meal.
The Captain is the lead of a three-man service team acting as the ambassador of the service team to the table. It is the responsibility of this person to orchestrate the efforts of the Front Server, Back Server, and Runner/Barista to direct the flow of service that we provide to each guest we serve. The Captain is ultimately responsible for all aspects of service and guest satisfaction in his/her station.
The Food Runner is primarily responsible for the delivery of food from the kitchen.
The front server acts as the expeditor of service. Required to be fully aware of what is happening at each table at all times through communications with the Captain. The position is the lead on the expedition of all courses. Previous experience in a fine dining restaurant preferred

Director of Group Sales
We are looking for a Director of Group Sales to work closely with DOSM and Revenue Director to achieve annual goals, budget and targets. The DOGS is responsible for the supervision of group sales managers, trainees, Delphi manager, and administrative staff. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the recruitment and hiring of sales staff, training, managing and coaching sales managers in their selling process in order to meet company goals and maximize hotel revenues. Provide additional support when requested to the Transient Sales Manager, Group Coordinator and CS/Catering as directed by the DOSM. Work closely with DOSM to increase Team Engagement and Development in their Sales Roles. Act as a liaison between Sales & Marketing and all departments throughout the hotel. Must be proficient in general computer knowledge and able to train and monitor the group contractual agreement process, quoting rates, sending referrals, setting traces, and the management of accounts. Communication and organizational skills are of the utmost importance.
