The best jazz club in town showcases New Orleans' greatest Jazz talents and serves your favorite cocktails and appetizers in a luxurious and intimate venue on the lobby level of the Royal Sonesta New Orleans. Preferred seating in the Jazz Playhouse guarantees seating near the stage within reach of the band. New Orleans holds James Rivers in a special place in its heart. The multi-instrumentalist and composer grew up in New Orleans’ Sixth Ward and has performed regularly in the city for decades. He is known for his work as a session musician starting in the 1950s, helping Sam Cooke pen the finishing touches on “You Send Me,” and writing music for six Clint Eastwood films.
