Peacock Garden Cafe Brings Fresh, Garden Fare & History to the Grove

Peacock Garden Café will add to South Florida’s flourishing culinary scene with its fresh, garden-inspired cuisine served against the backdrop of Coconut Grove’s rich history. The third restaurant from the Jaguar Hospitality Group including Coconut Grove favorite Jaguar Ceviche and Talavera Cocina in Coral Gables, Peacock Garden Café offers flavor profiles inspired by South Florida’s rich farmlands.  The healthy and sustainable menu will deliver the freshest ingredients sourced from South Florida’s lush and tropical environment. Under the direction of Executive Chef Oscar del Rivero, Peacock Garden Café will feature herbs and greens from Cahaba Club, fruit from Hanshaw Farms and vegetables including zucchini, squash and bell peppers from Six L’s, Quality First and Southern Corporate Farms.  Appetizers are ideal for sharing and include Grilled Artichokes with fresh thyme, garlic and a lemon-blue cheese dip, Crispy Seafood Platter, an array of fresh caught mahi-mahi strips, shrimp, calamari octopus and zucchini served with Kalamata olive dip and the Mediterranean Platter, an assortment of cheeses, sliced meats, hummus, olives, tapenade and grilled breads.  The “Grill at the Garden” section of the menu will entice guests with endless variety, delivering a choice of grilled organic chicken breast, yellow fin tuna, Atlantic salmon or skirt steak. Each grilled item can be paired with a fresh salad such as Chinese, Nicoise, Greek or Caesar.  Signature entrees include Roasted Organic Chicken, stuffed with fresh lemon and seasoned with rosemary and garlic, Seared Salmon Teriyaki with bok-choy, Fresh Fish Casserole with fennel, assorted herbs, white wine and tomato, Grilled Pork Chop with spicy applesauce and Wild Mushroom Pate with pancetta, and Traditional Lasagna prepared with veal, lamb, tomato-basil sauce and ricotta and parmesan cheeses.  Peacock Garden Café proudly features a thoughtful wine list of selections from boutique wineries of California, Oregon and Washington state, as well as a variety of still and sparkling wines from Italy and throughout the world.  “When I discovered the history of Miami really began in Coconut Grove, I wanted to bring that history to life and allow South Floridians to experience the magic of this neighborhood 130 years ago,” says Owner Lalo Durazo. “I envision Peacock Garden Café as a dining experience that captures the essence of Coconut Grove while allowing guests to learn something about this special neighborhood and the personalities that have contributed to its unique history.”  Much more than a restaurant, Peacock Garden Café is indeed a celebration of Coconut Grove’s history. Guided by the expertise of historian Arva Moore Parks to authentically interpret the history of the beloved neighborhood, Peacock Garden Café will continue to pay tribute to the pioneers of the Grove with interpretations on the wall such as early photos and historical documents curated by Ms. Moore Parks and vintage furnishings collected by designer Stefani De La O.  The restaurant gains its namesake from the historic Peacock Inn, currently Peacock Park across the street. Often regarded as the launching pad for the entire community, the hotel was constructed by Charles Peacock and his wife Isabella, who was known as the “Mother of Coconut Grove.” The Café is located on the previous site of Union Congregational Church and prominently showcases the exterior grave of Eva Munroe, wife of Ralph Munroe who was an active community member of Coconut Grove and was the Commodore of the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club for 22 years. The church, library and women’s club made up the community center founded by Munroe and is now the current site of Peacock Garden Café.  The restaurant is located at 2889 McFarlane Road downstairs at the Sonesta Bayfront Hotel Coconut Grove. Restaurant hours are Monday through Thursday 11:30 am to 11 pm, Friday and Saturday 11 am to 11:30 pm and Sunday 11 am to 10 pm. A weekend brunch is available Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 2:30 pm. For more information  For additional information please contact Ellen Marchman or Sarah Prawer Get Ink PR, 305.777.2340
