The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel

With a nod to our iconic past, the hotel’s renovation includes dramatically updated guest rooms, an all-new modern lobby experience, and much more – all in the midst of one of the city’s most dynamic regions. The Clift is close to Moscone Convention Center, Nob Hill, Fisherman's Wharf, Embarcadero, Telegraph Hill, Coit Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Valet Parking is available 24 hours a day at the main entrance at 495 Geary St. between Mason and Taylor. Standard Vehicle $59 plus 14% tax per night; Oversize Vehicle $69 plus 14% tax per night. Vehicles may be taken in and out. Please allow 20 minutes for vehicle retrieval.

Destination Fee

The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel offers the best experience of San Francisco hotels. As part of the various guest privileges that we offer throughout your stay a daily destination fee of $31 (inclusive of tax) will be charged to your room account.

  • Priority access to Redwood Room
  • $10 USD food and beverage credit per day, per room for use Living Room, Redwood Room, or In-Room Dining (must be consumed on a daily basis and may not be rolled over to the following day)
  • Complimentary bicycles, upon request
  • Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, available in guest rooms
  • Standard in-room Wi-Fi
  • 24 hour gym access

The Clift is dog-friendly. Pet fee is $75 per stay and is nonrefundable. Dogs only. No weight restriction. A pet indemnity form must be filled out at the front desk when checking into the hotel. An additional cleaning fee may be applied after check-out, if necessary.


The Clift will gladly handle shipping and receiving of packages for our guests. However, the hotel is not designed to handle the storage of more than five (5) guest packages per room, per day. 

We hold the first five (5) packages complimentary. Additional packages will be charged a fee based on the weight:

  • Envelopes/letters - $2 per item, per day
  • 0- 19 pounds - $5 per box, per day
  • 40+ pounds - $20 per box, per day

Package delivery and drop off hours are Monday through Saturday, 8AM - 8PM. Due to limited storage space, shipments may not arrive any earlier than five (5) days prior to arrival. **All pricing is subject to change.

A valid credit card is required at check-in. In addition to room and tax an additional $200 USD per night will be held on your credit card to guarantee any incidental charges.

Check-in time is 3PM. Check out time is 12PM. Early check-in is by request only and not guaranteed. A valid credit card must be presented at check-in at all hotels. Late check out must be coordinated with the hotel, as available. Guests must be at least 18 years old to check into hotel. 

  • Credit card authorizations must be requested 48 hours prior to arrival

Non-Smoking Hotel

The Clift is a non-smoking property. Smoking is permitted in the front of the building, as per San Francisco code, 15 feet away from the entrance. Smoking is not permitted on balconies or terraces. There is a $500 fine for violation of the smoking policy.

Dining, Nightlife and Entertainment

The legendary Redwood Room bar, paneled with the wood of a single Redwood tree, is accented with the buzz of an elite San Francisco crowd. Guests who simply want to relax, read or people watch can find the comforts of a modern library in the Living Room.

Sports and Fitness

Located on the 2nd floor and filled with natural light, the fitness center at The Clift San Francisco is open 24 hours a day and features state of the art fitness equipment. Accessible via guest room key, The Clift guests also have access to a full service fitness club, available for an additional fee per day (2 blocks away).

Complimentary bicycles are available at The Clift San Francisco for guest use on a first come, first served basis.

Meetings and Events

The hotel offers 12,524 square feet of meeting and event space to include Redwood Room and a Private Apartment. A dedicated convention services and catering team is available to handle all details. Audio-visual equipment and services are available on-site.
