SONESTA RESORTS ST. MAARTEN WELCOME GUESTS FOR THE REOPENINGS OF SONESTA OCEAN POINT RESORT ON DECEMBER 15 AND SONESTA MAHO BEACH RESORT, CASINO & SPA ON FEBRUARY 1, 2019

Returning “Stronger & Brand New” Following Extensive Renovations Post Hurricane Irma.

ST. MAARTEN (December 12, 2018) – Sonesta Resorts St. Maarten is grateful for the patience and support of its loyal partners and guests as the limitless, all-inclusive, adults-only Sonesta Ocean Point Resort prepares to reopen December 15, followed by the all-inclusive, family-friendly Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa still under renovation and reopening February 1, 2019. The resorts are returning as the destination of St. Maarten poises to re-establish welcoming visitors as the island recovers following Hurricane Irma last year.

After the long and arduous process of rebuilding over the past 15 months, Sonesta Ocean Point’s staff and team eagerly await the first guests to arrive. While the resort’s facilities have been almost entirely restored, there are a few updates to what the hotel’s initial guests can expect:

The completion of the new Sonesta Ocean Point lobby is still in progress and is now scheduled to be finished January 20, 2019. The hotel is providing a comfortable alternative location within the resort for check-in, and in light of this inconvenience, there will be a variety of fun extra features and services to enhance the guests’ vacation experience.

A complimentary catamaran excursion will be available twice a week through January 7, offering guests a scenic coastal cruise with a sail to the pristine Creole Rock natural reserve and a stop-over at Long Bay to enjoy a swim in crystal clear waters with snacks and refreshments prepared by the culinary team. The resort’s evenings transition to a sumptuous BBQ full of Caribbean flavors, while a steel drum band plays under the stars on the Point Pool deck. Another signature offering includes the Sunday Brunch at Azul with bottomless mimosas, bloody marys and prosecco, with the entertainment team developing more exciting things to come.

The following all-inclusive gastronomy options will be available to guests including Azul Restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; the new Casa Blue Tapas Restaurant and Lounge open for lunch and dinner; The Point Restaurant open for dinner, and the new, Candlelit Island Grill open for dinner only. These venues along with the four bars, pool service and 24-hour room service will round out the food and beverage offerings.

Every effort is being made to minimize the appearance and any disturbance to guests caused by the construction at Sonesta Maho Resort, which will be entirely closed off during the process with the exterior facade almost completed. Some construction will be visible when entering and leaving the resort complex and guests will have access by car to the front of Sonesta Ocean Point to minimize exposure to the site. The lobby construction will only be visible from the Point Pool location with the team doing everything it can to ensure guests enjoy their vacation experience.

As a reminder, the "Stay at One, Play at Two" program for Sonesta Ocean Point guests to access Sonesta Maho Beach Resort will not be available until the resort reopens on February 1, 2019. Spa services for Sonesta Ocean Point guests will be available at a dedicated Spa Suite and at Serenity Point, a private outdoor treatment gazebo, overlooking Maho Bay.

In addition, Sonesta Resorts St. Maarten is updating and extending its RE-opening special offering up to 45% off rates for bookings now through January 31, 2019 for travel through December 20, 2019. Sonesta Ocean Point retail rates start at $229 per person, all-inclusive for a Junior Suite, and at Sonesta Maho Resort, rates start at $132 per person, all-inclusive in a Superior Room, both based on double occupancy. Use promo code: REOPENING when booking.
