Sonesta Appoints Jill Plemons as Director of Sales and Marketing for The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel

SAN FRANCISCO -- (June 21, 2018) -- The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel, the newest property to join the diverse and distinctive portfolio of hotels known as Sonesta Hotels & Resorts, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jill Plemons as Director of Sales and Marketing. Plemons joins The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel with a distinguished 17-plus year career in hospitality and service operations, with a specialty in boutique and independent hotels catering to leisure, business and group travelers. In her new role, Plemons will continue to further elevate the property’s sales and marketing initiatives as well as oversee all revenue and management distribution.

Immediate goals and areas of concentration for Plemons in her new role at The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel will include reinvigorating the bar and cocktail program in the hotel’s historic Redwood Room to attract both discriminating guests and area locals in search of a true San Francisco experience in an iconic setting. In addition, Plemons plans to work with the director of food & beverage to implement creative and fun aspects of the hotel’s Rooftop Bee Sanctuary into the overall guest experience – from honeycomb-derived meeting breaks to seasonal specialty cocktails. Plemons will also focus on sustainability as it pertains to tourism in the San Francisco market. This will include Plemons ensuring a positive approach and leadership are taken when it comes to waste diversion, guest interaction, involvement in the community, and utilizing the most current workforce hiring practices. On the sales & events side, Plemons will continue to focus on the core customer of The Clift for group functions and events and will implement a one-stop-shop for smaller meetings from the local market. Recognizing the need of the many headquartered companies in the San Francisco area, and knowing that most have internal meeting rooms that are often booked, Plemons will head the efforts of The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel to offer a fully stocked boardroom or event space at a reasonable price per hour for team, client or vendor meetings – or even just a private happy hour.
Most recently, Plemons served as director of sales and marketing at Hotel Zephyr, where she was responsible for spearheading the sales and marketing efforts following the Fisherman’s Wharf property’s $32 million redesign completed in 2015. Prior to her three-year stint at Hotel Zephyr, Plemons lead the successful $12 million renovation, development and re-launch of Le Méridien San Francisco.

Plemons has also held a number of positions under the Joie de Vivre brand, including director of sales and marketing at Hotel Vitale, director of sales at Galleria Park Hotel, and regional director of sales overseeing the Northern California territory. Plemons also held various positions with Kimpton Hotels, including area director of sales and marketing for the brand’s three San Francisco locations and individual positions at Harbor Court Hotel and Hotel Vintage Court.
