From its dazzling décor and lights to its memorable feasts and package getaway stays, Royal Sonesta New Orleans makes holiday festivities happen once again

The newly renovated, landmark hotel Royal Sonesta New Orleans is ready to roll out an entire array of holiday fun and revelry for the 2017 season. From the hotel's unique showcase of lighting and décor, to its beloved Royal Teddy Bear Tea tradition, all the way through to a memorable Christmas Day champagne extravaganza, a myriad of long-lasting holiday memories begin and end at Royal Sonesta New Orleans, one of the Crescent City’s most-cherished hotels, located in the heart of the French Quarter at 300 Bourbon Street.

Royal Sonesta New Orleans will officially usher in the French Quarter holiday season with its beloved yearly event, Lighting of the Balconies, taking place on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m., inside the property’s lush interior courtyard. With a ceremonial flip of the switch, two young patients from Children’s Hospital New Orleans will magically illuminate thousands of twinkling lights that adorn the hotel’s classically designed wrought iron balconies. The event is regarded as one of the most memorable local celebrations of the season. Once again, this year’s show is infused with plenty of surprises, along with some great entertainment designed to make the holiday season bright for the hotel’s guests and patrons.

In addition, every year during the holiday season, Royal Sonesta New Orleans partners even more closely with Children’s Hospital to give back to the community. Through collecting toys for a Toy Drop, hosting patients at a special Royal Teddy Bear Tea and bringing the Royal Teddy Bear Tea to the inpatients at Children's Hospital inside its auditorium, this multifaceted collaboration provides not only the patients with unique and memorable Christmas experiences, but also meaningful financial contributions to those who need it most.

Recognized by the New Orleans City Council, Royal Sonesta New Orleans embraces a corporate ‘Culture of Caring,’ and in 2017, the hotel is asking guests and patrons alike to open their hearts and contribute to this meaningful cause. For every $5 holiday donation in support of Children’s Hospital New Orleans via the hotel, participants will be entered into a raffle to win a grand-prize package. The randomly selected raffle winner will receive a two-night stay at the hotel, Sunday Jazz Brunch for two at Restaurant R'evolution, VIP seating with cocktails for two at The Jazz Playhouse, along with an original hand-painted work of art by popular local artist Logan Ledford

“We are thrilled to once again partner with Royal Sonesta New Orleans in such a meaningful way,” says Children’s Hospital New Orleans President and Chief Executive Office John R. Nickens IV. “Our organizations proudly continue this tradition of coming together to demonstrate the true meaning of the holiday season, which brings smiles to the faces of so many of our patients and their families.”

Royal Sonesta New Orleans’ holiday magic of both sights and sounds will continue throughout the month of December as well, when each weekday at noon beginning Dec. 1, New Orleans-area elementary and high school choirs will spread holiday cheer with musical performances, held right inside the hotel’s main lobby. Guests and visitors should plan to stop in throughout the season to enjoy the hotel’s elaborate holiday décor, including its glittering arcade of real Christmas trees.

On Christmas Day, the hotel will make more magic. Executive Chef Jeff Mattia and his talented culinary team are providing an extravagant Christmas Day Champagne Brunch, with all the delicious and decorative trimmings of the season, inside Royal Sonesta New Orleans’ newly reimagined Grand Ballroom. Brunch will feature more than 15 food displays and live jazz entertainment by Ashlin Parker Trio, plus free flowing champagne and mimosas, along with a Bloody Mary bar. Guests can book reservations with half hourly seatings from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The cost is $75 for adults and $35 for children under 12. Children 5 years old and under dine for free.

The holidays are also an opportune time to take advantage of all Royal Sonesta New Orleans has to offer. With its Papa Noel Holiday Package, guests receive the hotel’s best rates, starting at only $149 per night Sunday through Thursday, and from $199 per night on Friday and Saturday. Plus, all Papa Noel guests automatically receive the tremendous Sonesta Savings Pack, containing more than $500 in discounts to New Orleans’ most popular attractions and museums. And at Restaurant R’evolution, located inside the hotel at 777 Bienville St., both visitors and locals can spend more time with family and friends, and allow the talented culinary team to create holiday feasts for the senses. In December, chef duo John Folse and Rick Tramonto will continue the restaurant’s mission of conserving the region’s culinary past with the annual celebration of Louisiana’s holiday tradition, Réveillon. Restaurant R’evolution will feature a classic Réveillon menu on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, as well as its Réveillon prix fixe dinner menu option throughout the entire month, for all to enjoy.
