The House of Moral

La House of Moral is a house that is one of the buildings that best reflects the baroque architectural style of Arequipa and is located between the streets Moral and Bolivar. Its name originates from an ancient blackberry tree that can still be seen today in the center of the courtyard and its construction dates back to the 18th century. Stand out on its cover, the figures of cougars holding snakes in its mouth, carved entirely in sillar, in addition to a variety of heraldic figures, such as shields, crowns, castles etc. The interior of the house offers a lavish decoration that gives the place a certain Iberian air, with period furniture and carved figures located on the sides of the doors and windows of the main rooms, which gives it a particular touch. Something unmissable are the maps of America made during the sixteenth century and displayed in one of its rooms.
