Colca Canyon

The Colca Canyon, a fluvial canyon in southern Peru, famous for being one of the deepest in the world, is a well-known hiking destination. It is a habitat for the giant Andean condor, the most representative bird of the region, seen from viewpoints such as Cruz del Cóndor. The landscape of the canyon includes a green valley and traditional remote villages with terraced agriculture that precedes the Incas. Its Colca river is popular for rafting.

Yanahuara city sigth

The Yanahuara city sight, located approximately two kilometers from the historic center of the city, is a set of beautiful sillar arches built during the nineteenth century, because of the location in which it is located, it is a must visit place, because it allows you to admire the beautiful white city of Arequipa, having a panoramic view of its three volcanoes (the Misti, Chachani, and the Pichu Pichu). We can also observe engravings written by illustrious people from the city of Arequipa.

Nevado Misti and Chachani volcano

The Chachani is one of the emblematic volcanoes in Arequipa, and together with the Misti forms the wonderful landscape of the Arequipa countryside. Easy to access compared to the snow-capped mountains of the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash, Chachani is a point of attraction for inexperienced mountaineers who aspire for their first 6000 meters. The ascent to the Chachani can be done all year round, although between January and March the frequency of rainfall, snow, fog and blizzard increases.

Climbing Chachani, just like Misti, is relatively simple. However it is always important to go with a specialized guide and with the necessary equipment. The rise time is two days and one night. The snow starts at 5500 meters above sea level

Sabandía Mill

Sabandía is located 9 kilometers from the city of Arequipa, this site is characteristic due to its colonial mill dating from the seventeenth century, where the grains were originally ground and later sent to the south. This impressive mill, is in perfect condition and can be visited and see how it works. It is surrounded by ancient trees, has a beautiful waterfall, whose strength moves the heavy stones to grind. Also, you can see a beautiful collection of cactus and succulents, various flowers and local plants. A great Arequipeño fighting bull, vicuñas, llamas, alpacas, guinea pigs, roosters and other birds representative of the area. It is located in the district of Sabandía, about 20 minutes from downtown Arequipa.

National Reserve Salinas and Aguada Blanca

The National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca is located 35 kilometers northwest of Arequipa. This site covers 366,936 hectares. Inaugurated in August 1979 in order to protect and conserve some species of fauna and flora, encourage the conservation and repopulation of the vicuña, a very fine camelid from South America and the rational use of renewable resources.
