Bourbon Street hotspot, Desire Oyster Bar, will host the P&J Oyster Shucking Competition preliminary round to identify the top six shuckers who will participate in the New Orleans Oyster Festival finals. The Annual Oyster Festival is June 3-4 at the Woldenberg Riverfront Park, and the shucking finals are Saturday, June 3, from noon to 12:45 p.m.



The preliminary competition is Thursday, June 1, and shucking is 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. The event is open to media, and the restaurant will be closed to the public 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.



In the footsteps of Desire’s longtime shucker Gus Marshall, Kentrell Simms will fill the role this year. The following restaurants from New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Houma, as well as Florida, Virginia and South Carolina will also be represented in the preliminary round:

Due to Bourbon Street construction, it may take more time than usual to travel to and from the venue. Desire is accessible as usual by foot traffic, and the parking garage is accessible via Bourbon or Bienville Streets.
