Hotel offers unique design elements throughout the public space

Vertical gardens and Contemporary Art create a relaxing atmosphere

The new Sonesta Hotel Bogota was designed by Catiline KUBIK Zuniga in interior design and architect Alvaro Calderon Ruiz. The shared vision is a modern and contemporary space with design elements of interest include vertical gardens and contemporary art. At night, the building becomes a work of art with illuminated in a style inspired by the Art Deco windows.

The selection of plants for the vertical wall in the entrance hall was made from a palette of over 250 different species growing in a hydroponic environment, on the basis of an automated irrigation system that supplies water and nutrients to the wall so that plants can grow and develop in all its glory. The facility offers a breath of fresh air for arriving guests.

Installations of contemporary art, created by local artist Ana Salazar, featuring images of reflection of the natural elements that, though beautiful, might be overlooked by a passerby. Particularly noteworthy is the large picture of Bogotá from a unique perspective installed behind the reception that becomes a focal point for lobby areas, bar and registration.

"The vertical gardens create a living canvas that is a true work of art and a wonderful addition to the hotel's public spaces," said CEO and President of Sonesta Stephanie Sonnabend. "The walls come alive and actually are reflected in the destination when combined with local contemporary art, which is so important for Sonesta".

In addition to bioclimatic architecture, thick glass is used to help control temperature throughout the hotel. The rooms have dark curtains and UV to keep the comfortable rooms, bathrooms have rain shower and large natural light. There is even a cactus in each room to absorb radiation of electronic devices (LCD televisions, computers, etc) in the room.
