The Monserrate Sanctuary crowns the hills that tower up behind the city. You can admire a splendid panorama of the city. Access is by cable-car or up through the eucalyptus woods on the rack-railway.
Mechanical access services:

  • Gondola: Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 11:45 pm; Sunday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
  • Funicular: Monday to Saturday: 7:45 am to 11:45 pm; Sunday 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • San Isidro restaurant is open from Monday to Saturday from 12:00 pm to 12:30 am and can be accessed by rack-railway or gondola.

José Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden

Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden is a world full of nature and color. Its name honors the memory of the illustrious José Celestino Mutis who was the director of the Botanical Expedition in the late seventeenth century. It promotes and conducts conservation, environmental education and research of Colombian flora.
Tuesday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4:00 pm .; Saturdays, Sundays and holidays: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Guided tours available.

The park was a recovery project initiated by local residents, the city, and a private foundation.  This surrounded by modern buildings and restaurants that satisfy the most diverse tastes.

Cycle Way

Cycle Way

For the past 35 years, it’s tradition to close 121 kilometers of the main avenues of the city prohibiting the traffic of cars. On Sundays and holidays from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, joggers, skaters and cyclists appropriate the major roads of Bogota. At the same time, in different city parks you can find aerobics instructors, yoga teachers, musicians, and others.
