The Carnival of Barranquilla is unique for its diversity and for being a party where everyone is the protagonist. Every dance, every folk group, each costume is involved to make the party the best show in the world, not only for display but mainly to live it. Carnival is indigenous, black and white; but it is also mulatto, sambo and mestizo. Its diversity makes it unique and magical, unique and unsurpassable. It is owned by everyone and in the hot sun every year is manifested in a way of being and feeling different, this was recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Barranquijazz is the festival of jazz and Latin jazz most important of Colombia and the Caribbean, held annually in September. This musical event aims to promote appreciation of jazz and Caribbean music. Collect different African and Caribbean rhythms among which are the Son Cubano, Salsa, Mambo, Bolero, Charanga, Cha Cha Cha, Bossa Nova, Samba, Gitana finally give the meaning and origin of the "Latin Jazz" or Latin jazz. This activity was attended by about 2000 people daily. The final concert which closes the Barranquijazz takes place in the Plaza de la Paz, an outdoor stage in which around 10 thousand people calls for more than 5 hours.
Amira de la Rosa Theater
Located in the neighborhood of the Prado, the theater Amira de la Rosa is the epicenter of cultural activity in Barranquilla. The stage curtain theater was designed by the master Alejandro Obregón. The theater plays an important role of cultural diffusion, with space for gatherings, presentations, meetings, concerts and exhibitions.
Zoo Foundation of Barranquilla
Located on 77th street in race 68, the zoo, with an area of 10,000 sqm, with 550 animals of 140 native and exotic species. In particular, you can admire the white tiger, a species in danger of extinction.
