Carnival of Barranquilla

The Carnival of Barranquilla is unique for its diversity and for being a party where everyone is a protagonist. Each dance, each folk group, each costume participates to make the party the best show in the world, not only to show it but mainly to live it. The Carnival is indigenous, black and white; but it is also mulatto, zambo and mestizo. Its diversity makes it unique and magical, incomparable and unsurpassed. It is owned by everyone and under the hot sun of each year, it manifests itself in a different way of being and feeling. For this reason it was recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

Barranquijazz is the most important jazz and Latin jazz festival in Colombia and the Caribbean, held annually in September. This musical event aims to promote the appreciation of Jazz and Caribbean music. It gathers different African and Caribbean rhythms among which are the Cuban Samba, Salsa, Mambo, Bolero, Charanga, Cha Cha Cha, Bossa Nova, Samba, Gitana that finally give the meaning and origin to "Latin Jazz" or Latin jazz. About 2000 people attend this activity every day. The final concert with which the Barranquijazz closes is held in the Plaza de la Paz, an outdoor setting in which ten thousand people are summoned for more than 5 hours.

Amira de la Rosa Theater

Located in the Prado neighborhood, the Amira de la Rosa theater is the epicenter of cultural activity in Barranquilla. The curtain of the theater was designed by the master Alejandro Obregón. The theater plays an important role of cultural diffusion, being space for gatherings, presentations, meetings, concerts and exhibitions.

Located on calle 77 con carrera 68, the Zoo, offers an area of ​​10 000 m², with 550 animals of 140 native and foreign species. In particular, you can admire the white tiger, an endangered species.
