Concepción is a modern, walkable city with an extensive transportation system, eight universities and many international restaurants. Points of interest include Plaza Independencia (main square), University of Concepción, city parks and the naval base.

University of Concepción

Is one of the houses of studies with more tradition and prestige in Chile. As much as their prestige, highlights its beautiful infrastructure and its beautiful green areas composed of paths, trees and an artificial lake. The Bicentennial executive secretariat of Chile 2010 distinguished the University of Concepción as one of the most important infrastructure works of the first half of the twentieth century. Pedro Del Rio Zañartu Park

The Museum is a fundamental part of one of the most important and traditional parks in Chile, named after the illustrious neighbor who bequeathed his dominions to the city of Concepción, prominent businessman and Chilean writer Pedro River Zañartu.

He married first with Ana Rosa Serrano, with whom he had two children: Ana Rosa Del Rio Serrano and Pedro Del Rio Serrano. Both brothers died with his mother at the hands of diphtheria, almost simultaneously. As a way to find relief as blow of life decides to travel the world, making four trips around between 1880 and 1913. In his travels he acquired various objects, which are now kept in the Museum.

The testament written in 1917, a year before his death, states in its eighth clause: "I give for the city of Concepción ... my Fundo Hualpén, with its forests, closings, houses and everything in it,  to perpetuate the name of my father and myself, since my death be called "Parque Pedro Del Rio Zañartu".

The Huascar Monitor is much more than an old trophy of war to Chile or a simple and forgotten military loss for Peru. Since his capture in 1879 has not only been involved in major naval battles, even in this generates international political acrimony between two neighboring nations.

Ecuador Park

Ecuador Park has a beautiful and exotic natural environment that spans more than one kilometer long. Thanks to its proximity to the city center, it becomes an ideal place to take a break from everyday activities option.

Originally his name was Alameda Park, which changes in gratitude for the assistance provided to Ecuador, after the earthquake of 1939. From that year until today is known as "Ecuador Park".

Conception Cathedral finished its construction in 1950 under the leadership of Archbishop Monsignor Alfredo Silva Santiago; the building is considered the architectural heritage of the city. This beautiful infrastructure comes in replacement of the ancient cathedral city located in the same place, which was severely damaged due to the earthquake 1939.
