"Chefs Night" returns to Sonesta Ocean Point October 25-28, 2017

ST. MAARTEN (August 29, 2017) – The all-inclusive, adults-only Sonesta Ocean Point Resort welcomes the return of Chefs Night October 25-28, an ongoing, biannual culinary event founded by Chef Görgen Tidén highlighting the gastronomic talents of a team of award-winning Swedish Chefs. 

This year, Chefs Night features two gourmet dinners designed by the visiting chefs, a cooking seminar and chef competition, and a Chefs’ cocktail party, all over the course of four days. Dinners will take place at the gorgeous Azul Restaurant situated on a spectacular cliff boasting sweeping views over Maho Bay. Azul Restaurant was recently recognized by the St. Maarten Chapter of La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, a distinguished French and international gastronomic society, after the success of previous Chefs Nights events.

The schedule of events include: First Chefs Night Dinner at Azul on October 25; Cooking Seminar and Master Chef Competition on October 26; Mingle with the Chefs Cocktail Party at Sonesta Ocean Point’s Rooftop Sunset Lounge on October 27, and finally the closing Chefs Night Dinner at Azul on October 28. 

Sonesta Ocean Point is offering an immersive Chefs Night Package with all-inclusive rates starting at $180 per person, per night based on double occupancy, available October 25-28, 2017. There is no minimum stay requirement, however to experience the full event, a three-night stay is recommended. Participating Chefs include:

Chef Görgen Tidén, the Founder of A Chef’s Night, has worked around the globe from Corfu to Nice collaborating with Michelin-starred chefs such as Alain Llorca before settling back into his homeland of Sweden, where he runs his namesake Restaurant Görgen in Dalarna. 

Chef Jürgen Grossmann’s career has spanned many acclaimed restaurants including the two Michelin starred Sweitzer Stuben, as Chef de Cuisine. He also opened his own restaurants, the one Michelin starred L'Escargot and Gässlingen. Chef Jürgen won the National Course of the Year award in Sweden and is an Honorary Member of Chaine des Rotisseurs.

Chef Douglas Fagerman held a position at the one Michelin starred Oaxen restaurant in Stockholm, with a previous position held at Pontus by the Sea. He also received a Gold Medal as a member of the Olympic Swedish Culinary Team in 2016.

Chef Oscar Mendelin has worked in the culinary arts for over 10 years starting with Restaurant Kesmo in Vasa, Finland, then moving onto Restaurant Kungsholmen in Stockholm where he spent most of his career. He’s also held positions at the one Michelin starred Fredsgatan, Le Rouge, Hesselby Castle, Gorvalns Castle, and is currently with Restaurant Hantverket. 

Chef Fredrik Juhlin has held numerous positions at acclaimed establishments including Hasselby Castle, Ulvsunda Castle and upscale Stockholm restaurants such as the one Michelin starred Fredsgatan 12 and Operakällaren.

Chef Constance Loeper is a rising star at only 21 years of age having held positions at one Michelin starred restaurants Fredsgatan 12 and Operakällaren. She studied culinary arts at the famous Grythyttan Academy and aims to focus her career on sustainable food development.
