Monte Hansen was introduced as General Manager of the Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston in July 2012. He brings nearly two decades of experience in hospitality management to his role. Previously, Hansen was employed by the Peabody Hotel Group, serving as the General Manager of both The Peabody Hotel Little Rock, a Four Diamond full service convention center hotel, as well as the flagship Peabody Hotel in Memphis.
Hansen began his hospitality career at the Gold Strike Casino Resort in Mississippi, where over the course of seven years, he quickly moved through the ranks from Public Space Housekeeping Manager to Hotel Manager and, ultimately, Director of Hotel Operations. He also held the General Manager position at the landmark Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.
A natural teacher, Hansen regularly volunteers with students and has served as an adjunct professor supporting hospitality education at schools in Little Rock and Memphis.
Director of Sales & Marketing
Sandy Collet was introduced as Director of Sales & Marketing in September 2012. With over 25 years of experience in hospitality sales and marketing for acclaimed brands and boutique properties, Collet brings dynamic leadership to the Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston team. Prior to joining the property, Collet was the Director of Sales & Marketing at Houston’s Hotel Icon, the first Marriott Autograph Collection property in Texas.
The majority of Collet’s career was spent with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, during which time she generated both personal and property accolades for excellence. She began her career at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas as a Reservations Manager and eventually left the company more than two decades later as the Director of Marketing for the Four Seasons Hotel Houston.
Peter Laufer was one of several veteran staff members who made the property transition from the InterContinental brand to Texas’ first Royal Sonesta in July 2012. He joined the InterContinental Houston team as Executive Chef in 2004 following two years as the Executive Banquet Chef of the InterContinental Miami.
Nearly a third of Laufer’s hospitality career was spent at sea with Norwegian Cruise Line – an experience that gave him exposure to the culture and flavors of South America, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Russia and Scandinavia.
Laufer began his culinary journey at the Hotel Bauer in Munich and worked at top restaurants and hotels throughout Europe in addition to catering to members of NATO and parliament ministers during his military service. He is an ACF Certified Executive Chef and member of the La Chaine des Rotisseurs.
