Ethnic Groups

The Kankuamos

Inhabit in the south oriental foothills of the saw, in the adjoining zones to the Guatapuri River. Its main settlements are Chemesquemena, Guatapuri and Mojao with Atanquez epicenter. They are in recovery ethnic status.

The Kogui

Inhabit in the north west of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. They are very peaceful and its cosmology invites to the reflection, respect by the nature and solidarity.

The Wuiwas

Inhabit to the north east of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, is a dispersed community, in the Valledupar municipality. They and are found in Atanquez, in cold places such as Chirigua, Surimena, Guarachinaka and Avingue.
