Marriage Laws 
Louisiana State Law requires that a certified copy of each party's birth certificate be presented when application is made. A certified copy of a death certificate must be presented if either party has been widowed. A certified copy of the final divorce decree must be presented if either party has been divorced. There is a 72-hour waiting period between issuance of the license and the ceremony. A judge CAN WAIVE the waiting period.
