Ships Reach New Heights of Individualized Service and Luxury
The Sonesta Star Goddess and Sonesta St. George I have elevated the standard of service on the Nile and now offer a number of individualized services on these luxurious new ships. A la carte menus are available to guests upon request, replacing the more traditional dining experience. Individual tours with an experienced Egyptologist include private transportation and a more personal experience of the antiquities and sites along the river. While standard shore excursions and buffet meals are still available, this new level of personal service provides a chance to experience Egypt at your own pace and with your personal travel companions.
The two newest ships have redefined luxury with their recent introduction. The all-suite Sonesta Star Goddess began service in June, 2006. This four-deck ship features 33 suite cabins (each named after a composer) offering panoramic window and private terrace, direct dial international telephone line, wireless Internet access, climate control, hairdryer, mini-bar, safety deposit box, television with movies, and full size tub. The five-deck Sonesta St. George I began service in July, 2006 and features 49 cabins and 10 suites and an observation lounge. All cabins features double glassed open panoramic windows, private direct-dial telephones, wireless Internet access with laptop in each room, hairdryer, safety deposit box, mini-bar, climate control, 21" LCD television with satellite programming. Cabin bathrooms offer steam, Jacuzzi, shower and music and water massage.
Each ship's amenities include several restaurants and lounges, in-room dining available until midnight, panoramic elevator, purified water, outdoor BBQ, international telephone line and wireless internet access, jogging track, outdoor swimming pool, spa and fully equipped gym. The ships also offer evening entertainment beginning with captain's welcome cocktail party, oriental black tie "Galabeya" party, Nubian folkloric show and themed nights throughout your cruise.
Sonesta has been operating deluxe hotels in the Middle East since 1982, primarily in Egypt, and currently manages 7 hotels and resorts in Egypt and a fleet of 5 cruise ships on the Nile River. Daily guided excursions from the cruise ships visit the historic sites of ancient Egypt, including the Temple of Philae, Komombo, Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon, Karnak and Luxor temples. In Aswan, guests may also enjoy a traditional felucca journey around Kitchener's Island and the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Sonesta’s Nile River cruise ships offer 3-, 4- and 7-night trips between Aswan and Luxor.
