Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort & Casino Names New Hotel Manager

Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort & Casino, Sint Maarten’s premier four-star getaway, has a new hotel manager: Karl A. Bourne is a veteran hotelier, whose career has taken him across major hotel brands in the Caribbean and the east coast of the United States.

In making the announcement, General Manager of Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino and Maho Group’s Vice President of Hotel Operations Armando Pizzuti said, “Karl is a seasoned industry insider whose previous work with some of the world’s top hotel brands will definitely be an asset to our property. We’re especially looking forward to tapping his management and food and beverage experience as we continue to enhance our own operations for both our hotel resort and our one- and two-bedroom condos.” 

Bourne joined Sonesta and moved to Sint Maarten after a two-year stint revamping the F&B department at Beaches Resort & Spa in Negril, Jamaica. He has occupied management positions since 1989 when he worked for the Hilton Walt Disney World Village, with ensuing experience at El Conquistador Resort & Country Club (Fajardo, Puerto Rico), Starwood Hotels & Resorts/Westin Resort (St. John, USVI), Marriott Hotels & Resorts (Orlando, Florida) and Wyndham Resorts International (St. Thomas, USVI), among others.

Bourne is a graduate of Penn Foster University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Hospitality and Tourism from GULL University.
