Sonesta Announces New Executive Chairman of the Board
BOSTON (January 12, 2009) - Sonesta International Hotels Corporation (Nasdaq GM: SNSTA) announced today that Peter J. Sonnabend will succeed Roger Sonnabend as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Company. Mr. Sonnabend was elected to the position at Sonesta's board meeting on January 6, 2009.
In this new role, Peter J. Sonnabend will be responsible for overseeing board functions and will participate in key business relationships, capital transactions and significant decisions affecting Sonesta.

Mr. Sonnabend joined Sonesta in 1987 and was first elected to the board of directors in 1995. He most recently served as co-CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board. Mr. Sonnabend is involved in numerous business, cultural and community organizations. A 1976 graduate of Wesleyan University, Mr. Sonnabend received his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law in 1980. A native of Boston, he now resides in Weston, MA with his wife Karen and their two daughters.
For over 60 years, Sonesta has owned, managed, designed, built and marketed hotels throughout the world. There are presently 25 Sonesta hotels and resorts, including 5 Nile cruise ships. The properties are located in Boston, Miami, New Orleans, St. Maarten, Brasil, Peru, and Egypt. Sonesta's stock is traded on the NasdaqGM stock market under the symbol SNSTA.
