For over 60 years, Sonesta has owned, managed, designed, built and marketed hotels throughout the world. Sonesta International Hotels Corporation is an outgrowth of Sonnabend Operated Hotels, founded in the 1940's by the legendary A.M. Sonnabend and Childs Restaurant Company, founded in 1889. In 1955, they merged to become Hotel Corporation of America, one of the first major U.S.- based international hotel companies.

Just as there is no “typical” Sonesta - there is no “typical” Sonesta guest. However, there are characteristics that our guests share: they tend to be adventurous independent-minded experienced travelers who are looking for an authentic or unique experience. They want to experience their destination - whether traveling on business or on vacation.

There are presently 32 Sonesta hotels and resorts, including 6 Nile cruise ships. The properties of the Sonesta Collection are located in Boston, Miami, New Orleans, Orlando, St. Maarten, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Colombia and Egypt; and opening soon in Barranquilla, Cartagena and Bogota, Colombia; Patagonia, Argentina; Miami, FL; and San Carlos, Mexico.  Sonesta is experiencing a period of sustained growth with five new hotels introduced in 2009 and six more already in the pipeline for 2010. Domestic and international growth will be continuous, at a pace that preserves Sonesta's commitment to authentic hospitality - with each new property reflecting the culture of its destination.
